The Siv Slippers - English
The Siv Slippers are warm, cosy and comfortable slippers, inspired by the historic Danish reed shoes.
Unlike the reed shoes, however, The Siv slippers are knitted from thick, warm yarn. But just like reed shoes, The Siv Slippers are created using a thick braided pattern to secure good hold and a noticeable insulating effect, as well as for the characteristic look.
The herringbone pattern is easy to knit and once you get the hang of it, The Siv Slippers are, with their large needles, both quick and easy to knit. The slippers are sewn together with an elegant twist at the front of the food.

The Siv Slippers are knitted using sock yarn with cashmere, for a soft and durable finish. The entire model is knitted in a herringbone pattern. The tension, on a 7 mm needle and knitted in the herringbone pattern, is: 10 x 10 cm = 20 n x 25 sts
NOTE: When the slippers are knitted in the tension mentioned above, they should fit snugly, because they will give a little with time (and use). Therefore, the slippers may feel a bit small when they are fresh off the needles, but they will expand and form to the shape of your foot when used.
Knitting needles and accessories
- Double pointed knitting needles or a circular needle 7 mm (length is not important)
- A measuring tape
- Scissors
- 1 blunt needle to secure loose ends
- 2 stitch holder cords or wire
- Two double pointed needles – all sized smaller than 7 mm will work
- An elastic that will be sewn into the front edge of the slipper to secure perfect hold
